Me Gabby

This is a picture of my very first birthday. This picture was taken on February 15, 1997, two days after my birthday, but the day my birthday was celebrated. In the picture is me being held by my godmother named Nancy. All the other people sitting and standing around are all probably friends and family that my parents invited. That time was so important to me not only because it was my first birthday, but because it was the first time friends and family had come together to one of my birthday parties. Of course, I was too young to realize it then, but I realize it now.

Artifact #1:

This is a keychain that I got from Michoacán, Mexico. I went in the summer of 2007. This keychain which has the Mexico flag on it reminds me of probably the best vacation I took with my family which included my brother, mom, dad, grandmother, and grandfather. We took the trip not only for fun, but to visit our family members in Mexico. I always keep the keychain somewhere safe although I’m supposed to keep my keys on it. That way I know I’ll never lose the keychain and I’ll always have it.

Artifact #2:

This artifact is what I call a Rosario. It is what I use and what my family uses to pray. This specific Rosario was given to me by my grandmother so it makes it extra special. The Rosario has a total of 59 beads. It is like a necklace, the Rosario has a charm and that charm is a cross. What makes it very unique is that it glows in the dark. To me, the cross represents God which helps me though all the tough times
.

Artifact #3:

This is a bracelet that I got from Mexico and it represents my religion. The bracelet is wooden with beads and it has images of saints and angels. I am a Catholic girl and I like wearing it a lot because it reminds me of my religion. It reminds me of what I believe in and where I come from. I am not a girl who goes every single Sunday to church, but wearing this bracelet helps me a lot to remind myself that I do need to go to church more often.

Issue #1:

The first social issue I chose was the issue of homeless people. Homeless people are a huge deal all over the world. There might even be homeless people in our community. I’m sure the people in our community don’t ever want to see homeless people lying in areas around their house. So what I think we should do is work on a way where the government can build more shelters for those people. The image I choose to represent this issue is a man on a bench with a sign asking for help. This issue is important to me because I’m sitting in a car, and as I’m looking out the window I see people on benches and that’s sad and I feel like helping them.

Issue #2:

I chose global warming as one of the social issues that are important to me because I think global warming is very interesting. Global warming is something we can help prevent. To represent this issue I selected this image regarding global warming. I choose these images because they clearly express what global warming is doing to our Earth. The main factors of global warming are fossil fuels. Examples of fossil fuels are oil, natural gas, and coal. This social issue is very important to me because it is something we can help improve easily. Simple things like turning off your computer when you’re done, turning off the lights when you leave the room, and planting trees when you can, all help the Earth.

Eyes:

The types of movies I like to see are either comedy or scary movies. I don’t have a favorite movie because there is a lot. But I do love to read mystery books. Specifically Nancy Drew books. I think they are so exciting, and at the same time I’m learning new things. Whenever my mom takes me to the library, I check out like three mystery books and read them on my free time. Here is an image of a movie I enjoyed watching which is the Nancy Drew movie and a Nancy Drew mystery book. This is what I love to read and watch.

Feet:

I’ve been to Mexico, and other places inside of California. I’ve never really traveled to other states. In the future, I hope to travel to Europe, and specifically to Spain. I would like to visit there and see what they eat, their customs, their monuments, and their values. Hopefully in the future I can travel there with my family.
To represent my trip to Mexico, I chose the Mexico flag which is green, red, and white. The brochure about Spain symbolizes me wanting to go there some day in the future.

Hands:

I play soccer on an all girls soccer team. It is very fun and delightingful because I learn new things. For example, I learn how to communicate with the other girls. This is my third year playing, and I think I’m getting better every year. I usually play in the positions of forward and defense. Soccer runs in my family since my dad, brother, and I all play soccer, and we enjoy it. This is a soccer ball that we normally use to play soccer. Here is a picture of a trophy that at the end of the year, all the girls get for playing on the team.

Heart:

The most important thing to me in the world is my family. They support me and encourage me. They help me be a stronger person. They tell me what to do right. I don’t know what I would do without my mom, dad. Brother, grandmother, and grandfather….etc. I love them!
Here is a picture of my family. My mom’s name is Maribel, my dad’s name is Miguel, and my brother’s name is Eduardo. The heart symbolizes how much we love each other, and I know that we will always be united as a family.
