youTHink’s Classroom Lessons are most successful when teachers integrate them into their classroom curriculum. Examples of curriculum integration include:

  • introducing a new literature unit with related themes/ ideas, Examples include:
    • Exploring poverty and labor rights with The Grapes of Wrath
    • Exploring racism with To Kill a Mockingbird, or as part of African American History Month
    • Exploring social responsibility with Antigone
  • learning about the concept of metaphors through art;
  • framing a service learning project;
  • helping students generate ideas and focus for individual research projects or persuasive writing project;
  • exploring current events, or media literacy;
  • understanding the legislative process at the state and federal levels;
  • creating art projects that explore students’ cultural heritages as part of a school multicultural month;
  • examining environmental issues;
  • using the postcard-writing process as a vehicle for exploring how to shape succinct and effective messages;
  • creating art projects that synthesize and articulate students’ understanding of key concepts explored in a particular lesson module.
