This winter 2007-2008,youTHink student interns share their experiences gathering family stories, showing the importance of preserving family history,
seeing their family stories in the context of the history of Los Angeles and what they learned over the course of this project. As part of this project, students visited The Autry National Center’s Community Gallery. Each student chose an artifact from one of the exhibits that had a personal connection for them. Here, they tell their stories….
Last winter 2006-2007, youTHink student interns explored discrimination and targeting
at school and on a personal level. To begin, interns conducted research for
one week at their schools, recording and analyzing all the incidents they
heard of slurs, name calling, and putdowns (targeting). After examining
targeting in the larger context of their schools and social circles, interns
examined the personal effects of targeting on their lives. Each intern
identified an experience when they were targeted, when they participated in
targeting someone else, or when they were a witness to targeting.
Listen to them tell the stories, and what they hope listeners will learn
from their experiences, in this first edition of youTHink on Air.
The following Public Service Announcements were developed and animated by students participating in youTHink’s programming. All are presented in Windows Media Format.
