School Residency Projects

youTHink school residencies are 12-Sessions long, taking place over a full semester in 9th-12th grade classrooms. Residencies dive deeper in investigating important issues in students communities through an artistic lens, and guides them to find ways to affect positive change, starting at school. Teaching Artists work in collaboration with classroom teachers to tailor the residency to the school’s and classroom’s needs.

In our residencies, a classroom of high school youth explore social justice issues, work collaboratively to choose a topic, and develop an action project which they will implement on their campus. Participants will gain skills in the art form of the residency, and develop important abilities including critical thinking and emotional intelligence.

The 2018-2019 school residencies took part in a program where students learned film techniques to create films that shed light on issues that mattered to them.  Click through to see what the students created.
